மதுரை மாவட்டம் வெள்ளாளப்பட்டியில் கடந்த 2015ஆம் ஆண்டு 65 வயது முதியவர் பக்கத்து தெருவில் விளையாடிக் கொண்டிருந்த 8 வயது சிறுமியை பாலியல் வன்கொடுமை செய்தார். கடந்த 5 ஆண்டுகளாக மாவட்ட மகளிர் நீதிமன்றதில் நடந்து வந்த வழக்கு விசாரணையில் இன்று தீர்ப்பு வழங்கப்பட்டது . அதில் 65 வயது முதியவருக்கு 5 ஆண்டுகள் சிறை தண்டனை விதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

இந்த உத்தரவை கேட்டு பொதுமக்கள் அதிர்ச்சி அடைந்தனர். 5 ஆண்டுகள் என்பது மிகவும் குறைவான தண்டனை. குற்றவாளிக்கு ஆயுள் தண்டனையாவது கொடுக்க வேண்டும் என்று கோரிக்கை வைத்துள்ளனர்.
